This is an online world music extravaganza, with Chinese harmony singing and Arabic percussion workshops, Caribbean and Salsa dance, and Turkish, French and Spanish music and song. There are lunchtime workshops, an evening concert and a late night dance party. The concert starts 7.30 p.m. The events will go out on Zoom and also on Facebook Live, in order to reach the widest possible audience. It's £10 for the whole day (standard rate), £2.50 for concessions, £25 for supporters, and it's free for refugees, asylum seekers and people with limited resources. Ticket money goes to pay the performers AND support two Lancaster charities, Global Link working with refugees and asylum seekers, and A.C.E. working with young people with mental health challenges. We hope you'll make this as much as a success as the last two events, which have raised over £6000, split between the performers and the two Lancaster charities. Viva Declaration combines poetic imagery with documentary narratives, featured as live visual projections from video artist Kooj Chuhan. The musical compositions are specially created and performed by Tagné Tebu, a multi-instrumentalist with jazz, African, Latin, and Indo-Arabic influences. Viva Declaration includes a mix of spoken monologues by detainees, human rights activists and legal case-workers reflecting on the themes of migration justice. There will be a Q+A after the show with the artists and Global Link. Tickets: £10

Who we are
We are a team of people from different countries living in the UK. In 2019, we met as ESOL students, joined community activities, formed friendships, and started creating a website aiming to promote integration between communities. We wanted to introduce North Lancashire and the world to refugees and their stories. The website continues to develop and we invite contributions. Under INFO ABOUT REFUGEES, you will find out why asylum seekers and refugees have fled their countries. You will also find news and personal stories from community members, reflecting their experiences and understanding. Under GLOBAL LINK PROJECTS, you will see diverse work, local and international, about peace, community heritage, and active citizenship.
This website is also FOR refugees: to help refugees living in the UK, with video, and information. This includes information about Leave to Remain, work, benefits, education, and tutorials in basic IT. In 2020, we added information in many languages about coping with Coronavirus: health and safety, online learning, parenting, and using technology like Zoom. Please tell us if there is something you want to know more about or something you want to share. We are updating the website all the time.
If you are an asylum seeker or refugee willing to share your story, please contact us. We are ready to share more and improve the website.
